Download every Salesforce object and field definition to JSON

I made a new codebase that makes it easy to download the definition of every object and field in a Salesforce org (part of its "metadata") onto your hard drive as a JSON file.

Example usage: If they have programmers on staff who can transform it into a data structure useful to them, your company's data governance team might find such a file useful for keeping a "data dictionary" up-to-date.

You could send that team a fresh copy of this file every time you alter your Salesforce configuration.
